Wedding Planning: Lighting Your Mood!

While planning an event, it’s really easy to get bogged down in all of the details. The linens, the flowers, and a million other tiny details that pull together the overall look. But, over the many years I have spent wedding planning or planning in general, I learned that there is one detail that can really make or break your event:The Lighting!

Most people will forget many of the details of your event (i.e., the heart shaped measuring cup favors or the exact color and style of the chair you selected or any of the other silly little moments you spent weeks and months worrying about), but what they do remember is how they felt. Were the chairs comfortable, was the temperature too hot or too cold, or did they have a full belly at the end of dinner? Lighting is one of the elements that plays a major role in how people feel.

Candlelight makes anyone feel a little sexy (even when you are feeling a little frumpy!). Warm ambers create a sense of warmth. Blues and purples create a sense of fun and adventure. Lighting is a design element that you can actually feel as well as see!

Favorite Lighting Looks:

Floating Candles

Floating Candles are so beautiful because the light rays are reflected in the water to create a gorgeous sparkling effect!

Pillar Candles

Pillar Candles are another favorite because of the glow that comes not just from the flame, but from the entire candle.

Uplighting

Uplighting is a great way to completely change the look of a room or to highlight landscaping features outdoors. Best of all it comes in every color on the spectrum!

Market Lighting and Twinkle Lights

The warm amber glow of market lights or twinkle lights can really add a warm glow to your event. The smaller bulbs create soft lighting and a visual feature.
