Spruce Up Your Space with Purple Floating Candles & Fern!

Are you looking for a fun way to decorate? Purple & Green are a lovely complimentary color match! By simply watching this quick video, you can learn how to put two colors and two products together to create a beautiful addition to your home décor. Joel Kirby, with Curly Willow Designs, makes us all feel like we can conquer the decorating world one DIY project at a time! Joel designs for events with thousands of guests, but his simple tips will leave you feeling confident you have created a masterpiece for your very own home!

What you will need:

  • Set of 3 Cylinder Vases
  • Fern (either out of your yard or from a florist)
  • 3 Purple Floating Candles
  • Water

Purple Floating Candles

Step 1:Grab your set of 3 cylinder vases

Step 2:Take your fern and cut it to the appropriate size for each cylinder vase. Place the fern down into the vase.

Step 3:Pour water over the fern. Make sure to not fill to full so your floating candle flame will fall below the lip of the top of the vase.

Step 4:Take your floating candle, and holding by the wick, gently place in the water making sure the wick does not get wet. Grab a match or lighter and light the candles.

Now take a look! This is what we call a WOW factor! The purple against the bright green fern brightens up any spot where placed! The magnifying quality the clear glass vase has on the fern makes the fern come to life inside the vase. And then the gently candle glow that tops it off adds just the right ambiance!

Floating Candles & Cylinder Vases are very economical! This is why we love to decorate using these two staple products! Keeping in mind that floating candles come in a multitude of colors so you can use for almost any occasion or theme!

We love Joel for so many reasons but one being he decorates in a way that everyone can do it! And it won’t cost you a lot of money! He’s a big fan of using elements right outside of your doors in your very own yard! What’s better than that? You don’t have to spend hours running around to create this look or any of the looks that Joel’s video series offers!

We think this DIY is so versatile! Keeping the fern the same, the color options are endless and if you want to create this as a centerpiece for a school function, corporate event, or just your island in your home it’s easy and fast! You truly don’t have to be an expert to create your very own AMAZING!
