Considering the time of day you want to have a summertime party is very important. Especially if you live in a hotter climate. If you're having a pool party, you can have your party pretty much any time of the day.
However, if it's more of a casual get together, late afternoon or evening may be the better option. This way you aren't having a party in the high heat of the day, and with the late afternoon there might be more shade to keep your guests cool.
The perfect thing about summertime party season is that you can comfortably host your guests outdoors. If you're fortunate enough to have a pool at your home, you can have everything poolside! Just remind your guests to bring a swimsuit. If you're in an apartment, see if you can use the pool in your complex if possible. If you're home or apartment don't have a pool, a deck or porch are perfect to have your guests relax in the fresh air.
Charcuterie boards are the perfect party food! Meats, cheese, olives, fruit and crackers give your guests a little bit of everything, while also accommodating most people's diets.
If you or someone else is a grill master, you can take this time to grill up burgers and hot dogs for your guests for a more traditional style summertime party food. If you have just a few guests, a charcuterie board is a good option.
However, the more people you may have at your party, the easier (and less expensive) option is grilling out! Another good option is to have each guest bring a dish to contribute! This way the hassle of preparing all of the food is off you, and people can bring their grandma's famous potato salad for everyone else to enjoy.
When it's hot outside, it's very important to ensure that you have plenty of water on hand for your guests to make sure everyone is hydrated. However, a host should also provide other beverages for their guests. Along with stocking beverages like iced tea and lemonade, beer and wine are solid options that appeal to most guests.
With the beauty of summer, not much decor is needed. However, you can enhance your surroundings. Using citronella votive candles and candle holders, you can create functional decor that will keep the bugs away and look beautiful!
